Andrea Anderson a.k.a. D. Violet Butterfly was born in Seattle Washington on June 9, 1966. She was born with the birth defect Spinal Biffida. From the day she was born, doctors said that she would not make it. She is currently 38 years old and the creator of A Piece Of My HeART Project.
One of the reasons this project was created was to give Violet an outlet for hope and healing. Not only for herself but for the world. She believes, as an artist and as a physically challenged person, it is her destiny to reveal that we are all part of the big picture and that what we do and don’t do matters not just to our own lives but to the lives of others.
Violet could not do this alone.
Violet’s best friend and attendant of over 16 years, David Mckinley a.k.a. Shaman Cola, is one of the reasons she is still alive and is able to put together this project. He has helped her to use art as a form of healing and meditation in order for Violet and the project to grow into what they need to be. What the one lacks, the other makes up for, just like the shapes of two puzzle pieces, fitting together perfectly. |
