The Big Picture
|
|
There are many lessons connected to this project. All of the lesson paths start with art and lead to universal awareness of the big picture and each person’s part in it.
Lesson 1 - What Is Art? Lesson 2 - Art And Focus Lesson 3 - The Elements And Principles Of Art Lesson 4 - Making The Connection
What is Universal Awareness?
Universal awareness is to consider that everything in the universe is connected and that everything you do or don’t do has the potential to affect everyone and everything connected to you. It is being aware of the universe, your place in it and your affect on it. The evidence that best demonstrates this is called the ripple effect. You can see it very easily, by simply tossing a rock into a body of water. It doesn’t matter how big or small the rock is, when you toss it into the water, things around it change. Even if the changes aren’t always visible to the untrained eye, everything that is connected to the rock, as well as the things connected to the things connected to it, have been affected in some way, causing a ripple effect. All of your thoughts and actions, create ripple effects, affecting everything connected to them. Just as tossing a rock into water, what you think and what you do affects everything connected to you. Another name for this is cause and effect. Cause and effect is evident all around us, everything is either a result of a cause or a reason for an effect. We may not be aware of all the causes and effects in our universe but nothing exists without being one or the other. We demonstrate these causes and effects through the project by every detail we add to our piece of canvas art . When we add to that one small piece, we add to the big picture. Every time we add even the smallest of things, the big picture changes. You simply cannot add to the little picture without it having some affect on the big picture. The ultimate question is, how will the things you do affect the big picture?
