A Piece Of My Heart Project Canvas Art Guidelines

 

      The cANVAS ART SHOULD REPRESENT A piece of your heart (or pieces, if you are doing more than one section) And represent who you are as well as what you are connected TO So THAT WE CAN REVEAL HOW WE ARE ALL CREATE the big picture.

     Please be mindful that we can only accept original art. This means no logos, Trademarks or any other copyrighted art or any renditions of Another person’s art.

  Each artist agreeing to contribute according to the canvas art guidelines and the canvas art agreement will receive one (more available upon request but not to exceed four per person) 2” X 12 “ (approx.) long piece of #10 canvas, coated twice with gesso, cut into the shape of a puzzle piece, for the foundation of their piece of canvas art. We ask that you utilize all of the canvas area but be mindful not to put anything of great importance within the first or last half inch of the canvas. The reason for this is that occasionally the canvases need to be refitted and we do not want to lose any important piece of the art.

     Any medium may be used, as long as it does not alter any edges and is durable enough to last years of handling. When possible and appropriate, we ask that you coat your pieces with a protective topcoat of some kind to maintain durability.

     For easier reference, as of 4/01/05 each piece will be assigned a number. When face down, the number will be located on the upper right hand side of the back of the canvas (when it is face up the number will be on the opposite side). The face up side of the canvas will have a dot on the upper right hand side. This will determine the direction and placement of the art. You may (and should) cover the dot on the front with your art. You may not cover the number. Please be sure to include your number in your documentation.

     Each piece must be signed and dated (with the date the artist started and finished the piece) by the artist on the back of the canvas in a dark permanent (durable, water resistant) color.

     You must complete your piece and return it within 6 months of the date you receive it to the address of the project found on the main page and the bulletin board.    

     You must agree to be a part of a public and private registry.  

      The public registry will contain your artist name (which, may or may not be fictitious, depending on what you prefer) and location (this may be as general as the country you live in or as specific as your contact info, depending on what you prefer) . This info will be displayed and used in publications and productions (public and private) to give the artists credit and recognition for the piece(s) they contribute.
     The private registry will contain your personal contact information which will be used mainly for shipping and legal purposes. Your private registry information will be kept private unless there is a need to verify some legal aspect of the project or unless you want it made available for promotional reasons as part of your public registry. We will not ever knowingly sell or trade your registry information for financial or personal gain without your permission. Our project is not about financial gain and we respect your privacy.

      You must agree to the donation of your art as it will become property of A Piece Of My HeArt Project, allowing the project to use it to promote and raise funds in relation to the goals of A Piece Of My HeArt Project. This means that you will be giving the project all rights to the artwork so that we can display the work during any/all promotions, productions and publications which includes on any promotional materials/items including promotional materials/items that involve sales. All profit from the sales of these items will go towards the project and its goals which include giving to various nonprofit charitable organizations. THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK WILL REMAIN PROPERTY OF THE PROJECT. IT WILL NEVER BE SOLD OR GIVEN AWAY. THE PIECES, AS A WHOLE, WILL BE KEPT BY A PIECE OF MY HEART PROJECT FOR THE EDUCATIONAL AND INSPIRATIONAL PURPOSE OF REVEALING THAT WE ARE ALL CONNECTED, LIKE PIECES OF A PUZZLE, EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE CREATING THE BIG PICTURE.
     Last but not least, we ask that you please be respectful towards the project goal to connect people by promoting universal awareness through art. Be mindful that people of all ages, creeds and nationalities will be participating and viewing this piece of art for years.  ALL ART MUST BE ORIGINAL and we ask that you do not send canvas art that represents illegal activities including but not limited to pornographic material because it can not and will not be considered, for legal reasons. We are extremely open-minded but we want this project to be viewed in as many places possible in the best possible light, with our goal of representing art and artists from around the world.
