Some of You may have heard of the theory of the Six Degrees Of Separation which states that you can reach anyone on the planet through a chain of six people. This project would like to consider the degrees not of separation but of connection. Consider all that you are connected to. Most of you will immediately think of the people and things closest to you that you love. But, just as the six degrees of separation reveals, you aren’t just connected to whom you choose to be connected to, you are connected to everyone and everything around you. After all, It is scientifically proven that we are all made up of basically the same thing. We are all connected, even at a very base level, to everyone and everything in the universe. We are connected at many levels other than the physical, as well. Just as we must consider the ripple effect of the water, we must be considerate of the ripple effect of our energy, because it is all connected. When a stone is thrown into the water, it doesn’t have a choice of what it is connected to or what it affects. It is simply connected. You experience this all the time when someone or something makes you uncomfortable for what seems like no reason at all. Or when someone makes you feel better just by being there with you. This is because energy causes a ripple effect which affects what it is connected to. Art takes this ripple effect of energy even a step further. The ripple does not just go through space but it also goes through time. The art, being connected to both the audience and the artist, can change how the audience feels about things even if that audience is millions of miles or years away. Art is filled with an incredibly powerful energy. The artist uses their energy, like a stone thrown into the water, to create a ripple effect. Only the ripple effect of art will carry that energy to the next person even through space and time. If you think about it, art and artists from millions of years ago are still affecting us because their energy is still connected to us. Artists who we have only met through their art from years ago still affect us even in our daily lives today. The artists of A Piece Of My Heart Project reveal these connections through each piece of canvas that connects to the next. Each affects and reveals the big picture, through their connections. They make a difference to the big picture, they affect it, with everything they add to it. People that have never even met will end up creating one of the largest/longest works of educational art that will touch eachother as well as the audience that is connected to it, not just today but also tomorrow.
